OVERWHELMED AND HONORED

Bolo’s Bash has been one of the most rewarding events that I’ve had the privilege of planning to date. While the death of a young person is always mourned and considered unfair, Bolo’s Bash was a celebration of the life and legacy that Sabastian “Bolo” Marquez lived to its fullest potential. At seventeen years of age, Bolo experienced a level of maturity well beyond his age. He touched the lives of children and adults, sharing his strength and courage when you’d think he needed to receive it the most.

Many of Bolo’s friends attended Bolo’s Bash. The most touching part of the evening was when everyone, including those who did not meet him, started chanting Bolo, Bolo, Bolo when his older sister, Maritza Marquez, spoke of his journey with leukemia, and how he still continues to inspire her today.

Bolo’s Bash 2009, benefiting B.A.S.E. Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation, allowed the Orlando community to learn about the unique services that B.A.S.E. Camp offers children and families facing cancer and other blood related disorders and illnesses. The generous sponsorships that we received from various companies was overwhelming. Even in the midst of the economic hardship, one principle is still respected… You have to give to get back!

A special thank you goes out to each of the corporate sponsors and everyone that made Bolo’s Bash the huge success that it has become.   Stay tuned for Bolo’s Bash 2010!

A very special thank you goes to…
